Forgetting to Breathe

In morning cold
this clear light
with mist
rising only
to ankle height
in October fields
I think of you
I forget to breathe….

I am on my feet
but laid out
with eyes turned
inward. There you
are, hair arcing
in the wind
face sculpted
against cloudless sky.
