Days End

At the end of the day
when you’re still in your shoes
the children are bubbly
they have wishful kisses
and grubby grabs
You’re thankful the day has ended
where it should have begun.

At the end of the day
the children sweaty
taste of salt
You sit at their shore

At the end of the day
as you slip off your socks
the children bubble
with wishful kisses
and grubby grabs
wash over what
the world made sore

At the end of the day
the children sweaty
taste of salt
You sit at their shore
Dip your toes in their warmth.
